Additional studies were taken with Janet Folsom in Florida, Michael Mazur in Boston, Don Gorvett in Maine, Phyllis Szerejko of Massachusetts, Victor Candell in Provincetown and Catherine Kernan in Somerville, Mass. She has participated in numerous gallery exhibitions throughout Cape Cod. Professional affiliations include the Monotype Guild of New England, Printmakers of Cape Cod, President from 1992 through 1994, Cape Cod Art Association, Creative Arts Center member of the Board of Directors, Cape Museum of Fine Arts member, Board of Directors of Friends of the Museum, and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Joan Caefer's monotypes are in the collections of United States Embassies in Warsaw, Poland and Islamabad, Pakistan, the executive offices of the United Nations World Food Program, Rome, Italy and are in various private collections throughout the United States, Paris and the French Riviera. Joan's passion for nature, Australian bark paintings and Italian architectural forms influence her abstract works. The element of surprise in monoprinting adds to her joy in creating.
