"A Pair"

Muriel Angelil received a BS Degree from American University, Beirut, Lebanon; MA Degree from Lowell State University, Lowell, MA; MAE Degree from Rhode Island School of Design, RI and MFA Degree from Vermont College, VT. Angelil studied art at the "Bicchi School", Alexandria, Egypt; The Carpenter Center, Harvard University; The Boston Museum School; The Mendocino Art Center, California; The San Miguel de Allende Art School, Mexico. She exhibited her relief and sculptural forms of rope and yarn until 1979 and has done extensive work in a variety of media including paper pulp, acrylics, oils and watercolors.

Angelil uses nature as a metaphor for physical states and for human emotions. Her sculpture installations are reflective and change with the light. When outdoors, they create an illusionary feeling of lightness and airiness in spite of the fact that they are strong and durable. She creates with screening and covers the screening with cement, fabric or any other industrial material that will withstand the elements. Angelil's works are nonobjective although they are often inspired by the human figure in motion.

She is on the faculty of Newbury College, Brookline, MA; 1970's and 1980's, returning in 2005 to the present. She has been awarded grants from The Brookline Arts Commission and has created installations in Massachusetts at Larz Anderson Park, Topsfield State Park, The Franklin Park Zoo, Muddy River, The Art Complex Museum, Newbury College and with the Reclamation Artists (RA), Boston Chapter, a group dedicated to organizing exhibitions on "unused" sites in and around Boston. She is a member of New England Sculptors Association (NESA) and has a studio in Brookline, MA.
